District Governor Bio: Charles Michael was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Guymon, OK in September 1976. He has worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the past 31 years. Charles’ father-in-law, Arnold Halligan, introduced him to the Guymon Lions Club in 1990. He was Guymon Lions President in 1993-94. He has been club treasurer since 1996, and received a Melvin Jones Fellowship from his club in 1996. He helped charter the Guymon Leo Club in 1996 and has been one of the Leo advisors ever since. He has sponsored three Leos to become Lions over the years. Governor Michael has been active in region and district for many years, and served on the Board of Directors for both the Oklahoma Lions Boys Ranch and Eye Bank. Governor Michael is married to Lion Colleen, has three children (Jennifer, Lion Charlie and Lion Joshua) and five grandchildren (three are Leos). He and his family are members of the Trinity Lutheran Church; Governor Michael is also active in the Guymon Community Theatre where he has directed or co-directed seven plays and acted on stage in numerous roles. He also enjoys spending time at the lake with his family, fishing, and driving the Lions train in Guymon. In Governor Michael’s family there are five Melvin Jones Fellows. He is proud of his “family of Lions.”
